Programs and Services
The Portfolio Management Institute(R) (PMI) is an organization created and managed by Practicing PMs in the Morgan Stanley Smith Barney Portfolio Management/Custom Portfolios Programs. PMI is dedicated to educating and improving the skills of its members. There are no assets under management, fee revenue or tenure requirements in order to join.
Throughout 2010, PMI will be building out an ambitious set of programs and services to provide the membership with unique value to their dues investment. Included in these plans are:
PMI Forum 2009 was held in April in Denver, Colorado. PMI Forum 2010 will be held in Atlanta, Georgia in April 21-23, 2010!
Continual Enhancement of a robust website dedicated to providing members with leading edge professional development materials and access to a range of useful tools.
Quarterly publication of an electronic newsletter that will feature articles about how to improve your business, develop new marketing strategies and insights into current portfolio management strategies.
Introduction of a "Certified Portfolio Manager" certification, in conjunction with Columbia University. Our first class of CPM graduates completed their curriculum and the Columbia week in New York City, June, 2009. A second CPM Class is working through the online curriculum toward a May, 2010 graduation. This class is FULL and a waitlist is in place for the NY 2011 program.
Continuing value-added conference calls on a monthly basis with industry and investment leaders.
Provide opportunities for networking and exchange of resources within the firm and the larger portfolio management profession, taking advantage of many of the resources available through the various vendors to the PM community. A series of local/regional meetings is being developed.
