To all PMI Members:
Welcome to Summer, 2010! The time each year after the PMI Forum is usually pretty quiet for your association—this year seems to be an exception! We all returned from our time together in Atlanta with new ideas and perspectives, enriched by the content, speakers and our ongoing peer relationships. Next, 58 of your colleagues completed the Certified Portfolio Manager® credential with a week at Columbia University in New York City at the end of May. Congratulations to the 2010 CPM Class!
Your Board of Directors and committees are putting together the ingredients for an outstanding year ahead for PMI. With nearly 300 active members, we are financially healthy. We concluded the Forum in Atlanta on target versus our budgets, and had our largest Forum yet, with over 150 members and guests attending. We have just finalized the contract for our 7th PMI Forum — set for May 4-6, 2011 at the Hilton La Jolla Torrey Pines, just north of San Diego, California. Circle the dates now—this is an outstanding venue for our next Forum.
Our peer-to-peer initiative and fall membership drive are around the corner. We are working on several strategic relationships to help facilitate PMI-sponsored meetings around the country, usually on a complex level. Monthly PMI member research call speakers are being booked – next is Standard and Poors’ Chief Investment Strategist, Sam Stovall, on July 19th. And we are in the midst of the planned handoff of the CPM program from PMI to a new organization, the Academy of Certified Portfolio Managers, so that this credential can be offered on an industry-wide basis going forward. See more at www.academyofcpm.org.
In short, PMI is on the move toward a very full and exciting fall. We’re glad you’re aboard!
Enjoy your family and vacation time this summer, and feel free to reach out to any board member with your suggestions and comments.
Rick Grimshaw, President - on behalf of the PMI Board
Please note you must be certified as a "Portfolio Manager" within the Custom Portfolios or PMG programs to be eligible for PMI membership.
